Time for an Upgrade
The Watts 2.0 Winter Helmet with Compass Fit will be my fourth Bern helmet I have owned. This product is rated All Season, but I primarily use mine for snowboarding and backcountry splitboarding. My previous Bern was ten years old so it was time to replace it. Helmet tech has come so far in the last 5-10 years and Bern has kept up with the latest/greatest. I love the amount of vents and the (light) weight. The Mips has a different feel than my older helmets but that is to be expected given the safety system design. I went with a medium and the helmet is true to size. If you plan to wear a beanie, or thicker Buff / face mask underneath the helmet you might want to size up or try-on before purchase. The Watts 2.0 Winter Helmet with Compass Fit also fits well with the Oakley Flight Deck goggle. For music I typically use Apple AirPods and have no issues with comfort.
Thanks for the in-depth thoughtful review :) We appreciate it a ton & your loyalty to Bern Helmets!
Go for the old gold!
Skiing for nearly 40 years without a helmet, letting my hair blow in the wind, and getting a wicked sunglass tan every time I went up, I’ve finally made the choice to protect my dome, err my wife told me now that I’m a father I must protect my head. So, I tried on about 2 dozen helmets in the off season, but not until I put on the Watts 2.0 did I decide ok, this works. First off it’s comfortable, and I dont look like a jerry. Next thing is that I don’t notice it interfering with my hearing. As someone who’s been slammed into on the hill, I want to hear when an out of control person is coming up behind me. Finally, it looks cool, I know that’s not the point of the helmet, but the copper, or as I call it “old gold” looks better than every other person out here in black or white lids. I’m sold, I love it!
helmet fits really well, love it !
